15 November 2007

Speakers: Tariq Ramadan and Peter Sanders with Fuad Nahdi, Dr Dawud Noibi (Southwark Muslim Forum and The Muslim College) and Natasha Choudhary (South Muslim Forum).

The program included a slideshow of Peter Sanders' Art of Integration photography followed by keynote address by Dr Ramadan. Opening presentations were made by Fuad Nahdi and Dr Dawud Noibi, followed by a robust Question and Answer session.

This event was aimed at local authority staff, frontline service workers engaging with Muslim communities, community activists and local student leadership. The objective was to provide direction for participants in working with young Muslims and particularly answering their questions about issues around citizenship, belonging, identity and also issues like the definition of jihad and violence in the name of religion; it was also an opportunity to present a positive vision of Muslim Britain.

This event was co-sponsored by SSP (Safer Southwark Partnership) and Southwark Muslim Forum
