The Radical Middle Way and An-Nisa Society presents a series of exciting programms with Shaykha Halima Krausen on the theme of Community Building and Social Change!

An Evening of Recitation and Discussion:
"Making Our Case to God: The Call to Action in Iqbal's Shikwa & Jawab-e-Shikwa"

These two poems were Iqbal's complaint to God and its response. They are a powerful call to agency and action - a commentary on the Qur'anic verse about changing one's condition. This event will explore the inner meanings of these poems and consider its relevance for the challenges Muslim communities face today.

Keynote Lecture:
"From the People, For the People: The Prophet's Way of Social Change"

The Prophet's message called people to God, but also empowered his community to become agents of social change. Orphans, widows, the impoverished and the oppressed are all mentioned in the Qur'an and a key aspect of the Prophet's mission was to work to improve their condition. This event seeks to reconnect to the "activist" and "community organiser" Prophet and the moral and ethical principles that underscored his divinely inspired and guided approach.

Study Day:
"Radical Then, Radical Now: 10 Prophetic Sunnahs of Community Building"

A text based study day investigating the Prophetic example in community building. This workshop will highlight 10 specific examples as a guide to support community and voluntary groups as well as individual activists when working in the Muslim community.

Shaykha Unplugged:
An Evening with Shaykha Halima Krausen

No question is too difficult. No topic taboo. This is "Shaykha Unplugged" - a unique opportunity to questions and discuss Islamic issues with one of Europe's most prominent Muslim women scholars. We often complain that scholars don't answer the questions posed to them. With wit, honesty, insight and common sense, Shaykha Halima will do her very best!

Seminar:
"It's All God's Business - Spiritual Capital and Building Communities"

This event will step back from the discussions around social-economic deprivation, alienation, radicalisation and family dysfunction to re-consider what are the fundamental ethics and values necessary for material, social and spiritual renewal. To do this we will take a look at Islamic sources to investigate what, as a faith based community we can offer towards solution finding in today's complex Muslim communities. Issues that will be addressed will be things like zakat and economic integrity, social and spiritual public spaces, caring for the weak and vulnerable, upholding justice and establishing legal structures.

A unique day-long seminar, ideal for frontline workers, voluntary sector agencies, civil servants, faith leaders, chaplains and Imams and people who work hands-on with their communities!

Space is very limited, so book to reserve your free space!
